DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:
> Operate dynamic positioning (DP) equipment
> Assist in maintaining logbook of all position keeping equipment and relevant engine room equipment
> Assist in setting up operational parameters for the DP system; ensure that system data is correct.
> Advise the SDPO, Chief Mate or Master of potential position loss.
> Assist in performing Preventive Maintenance on DP equipment.
> Assist in maintaining records of any defects and ensure that they are corrected and adequately rectified.
> Assist with the operation of the ballast control system where applicable.
> Assist in operating ballast control system, power management system, bilge system, ventilation system, engine room auxiliaries, fuel system, and fire and gas detection systems.
> Monitor all DP alarms including DP system settings, and fire and gas alarms and advise SDPO.
> Assist as directed by Master or SDPO with projects and maintenance.
> Complete company ISM familiarization material.
> Assist in sounding ballast and fuel tanks. Assist with loading and sampling of bulk products as required.
> Assist SDPO, Chief Mate or Master with deck operations as required.
> Operate the vessel's GMDSS equipment as required.
> Operate the vessel's navigation equipment required.
> Perform emergency duties and responsibilities as stated on the Station Bill, Emergency Response Manual and DP Emergency Response Plan.
> Assist to set-up and use all position reference systems.
> Assist to set-up and use all environmental and motion sensors.
> Assist to monitor displayed data on DP and Vessel/Power Management Systems.
> Have a knowledge of operational theory, failure modes, testing, and problem mitigation of thruster units and associated systems.
> Have knowledge of capabilities and capability plots, including worse case failure mode.
> Be familiar with vessel's operations manuals and communications systems.
> Be familiar with all emergency procedures and actions due to failures of: Position reference systems Wind sensors Computers Generator/power & Thrusters Sensors.
> Assist the Chief Officer or SDPO to monitor other shipping
> Assist the Chief officer or SDPO in operating communications equipment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
> DP Operators Certificate
> Relevant STCW 95 certification ( position may be combined with that of 2nd Officer)
> SSO ( if combined with 2nd Officer Position)
> FRC certificate( not mandatory)
> Relevant STCW 95 offshore medical and survival certificates.
> Competent in English language
> STCW II/I (OOW) License
