Seismic 3D Explosive Canada:
Extreme climatic environment .

 

Issue

The mission for this Oil & Gas Major was to perform their first seismic campaign in wintertime in northern Alberta, Canada, by -40° C.
Operations consisted in line opening, drilling, explosive handling and helicopter operations.
How to ensure Client’ HSE standards, International standards, and local regulation were strictly respected by all levels of sub-contracted companies ?

Solution

An HSE Expert in seismic operations from Interdevelop was sent on site for a two month period to supervise operations.
This specialist was chosen for his high level experience in seismic operations, his knowledge of the client's management system and for his ability to work in extreme climatic environments.
The mission: To liven up the site in terms of HSE;

 


To ensure that the sub-contractor applies the best environmental and safety practices and that all events, even minor, are fully reported.
Communications, meetings, numerous visits on site, and interface actions were opportunities to be in close contact with the sub-contractor.

Added value

The project was completed in accordance to the initial schedule.
Only a few minor incidents were reported over the course of the two month campaign, and their detailed reports helped our client to implement new solutions on other operations.

Seismic survey Indonesia:
Shallow water environment

 

Issue

To perform, in Indonesia and for a Major OIl & gas Company, a transition zone (swamp) and shallow water seismic survey. The total area was about 380 kmĀ², located on a gas producing field where a numerous installations were disseminated. Operations were consiting in flushing hydrophones and explosive sources (65% of total source points, the remaining 35% were airgun shots) on swamps, sea and land. How to manage and supervise 135 boats and small boats and an average manpower of 1000 workers (95% of local hired manpower) in such an environment and full respect of National and International regulations?

Solution

Two HSE experts in seismic from Interdevelop were sent on site on rotation basis and for one year to supervise this seismic campaign. This specialists were chosen for their recognized high level of experience, their knowledge on the client's management system and their ability to work in such difficult environment.
The mission: To liven up the site in terms of HSE;

Communications, meetings, numerous visits on site, Simops and interface actions were opportunities to be in close contact with the sub-contractor and the Client's sites representatives.
Training of 3 HSE assistants in the specificities of seismic HSE job.

EPC2-B Nigeria: laying a 12 inch pipeline in a swamp environment

 

Issue

For this world-renowned customer, the issue was to show that a technically tricky project could be accomplished by counting on a full 90% of local skills (local content ).
Main obstacles: Beaching the pipeline from the oil-field, laying the pipeline in a swamp environment, the presence of other pipelines and roads to cross. The risk in terms of Quality/Safety/Speed of execution was high indeed.

Solution

Prime contracting was outsourced to Interdevelop which dispatched a team of 10 highly experienced executives composed of Superintendent, general foreman, a QA/QC officer, Sideboom Foremen, Welding Supervisor, HSES advisors...

 

Added value

Our customer handed over the site to its own client, ExxonMobil, on time and at a highly competitive cost. Training for local teams was handled by our own team. They trained local foremen who put their new savvy to excellent use.
In a country considered to be sensitive in terms of security, we enabled our customer to complete the project without strikes or any significant incident thanks to our executives' capacity for adaptation, knowing that in a foreign country it is important to rely on local skills that are too often left untapped.
No accident was reported.
